Oh Mike, Stop Eating Ass.

Matt had no skills 2

It didn't stop Matt from drawing.

And it didn't stop me from making fun of his crooked drawings.

Matt had no skills.

Matt drew a picture of me:

Which, of course, received much ridicule from the rest of us...

But in all fairness, it did lead to a sketch that became part of my logo for the last 8-9 years.

John and I had a pictorial debate.

I felt that the reason for the stink in our room was emanating from John's belches.

John felt otherwise...

I don't think this is how we settled it.

Dave had gas.

Dave would come into our room for no other reason than to let one rip.

Matt was not pleased.

Don't ask - I don't know.

I don't know what we were doing or why Rick drew this.
I love it.

Legos?

Matt had his picture taken one Saturday,
and had the misfortune of showing it to the rest of us at work.
For some reason his arms looked deformed and he had a ..., goofy look on his face.
I drew it. Rick added the quote.

I found the original photocopy:

Marlan, Scribe of Thunder!

Marlan wrote a Thor script that was published a few years back.
This was for an invitation to his congrats party.

Walkin'

One slow day at work we were all making fun of each others walks.
I tried to draw them. John was Frankenstein-ish.
Rick had a swanky pimp-walk.
I jogged a lot.

Hillbilly Hair

Rick, Rick, and me as cousins.

Blockheads

This was a tiny little drawing, but I've always liked it.

Rick'n The Rings

Rick and I went to the rings almost everyday before work.
Until he broke them.

I drew Rick, Marlan and Rick as super-heros.
Rick was really into climbing stuff then.
Marlan had just bleached his hair platinum blonde.
Rick was... I don't know-short and hairy?

Peter Parker and Uncle Ben
or
me when I'm young and me when I'm old.

I always like to draw John's head like a bean.

As I posted earlier, we would usually draw each other. Here's one of my sketches of:

Marlan

Rick
and Jeff.

This was created during a staff meeting.   It is one of my favorites.

I think I started the nose, then Marlan drew the eyes, then Rick wrote "Godda Dishue?" then Rick drew me inside a nostril- so I drew oil rigs on it and the mustache to suggest it was his nose- then he drew my wife next to me- then I drew my Geo Tracker stuck in behind us- then he drew Shick next to me- then someone else drew Waldo in the other nostril- then Rick drew Popeye's arm- then Marlan wrote "Oo goa da ooda's?" which means "You going to Hooters?" as one would imagine it spoken by Lou Ferrigno at the San Diego Comic-Con, then we all got yelled at for not paying attention during a staff meeting.

Or something like that.

This is me.

We would all draw pictures of each other while we were working.

Usually they weren't complimentary.

This is one of me, in a series of drawings by Marlan.

This one is by Rick.

This one is by Jeff.

I found a stack of sketches...

I was cleaning up my home office this week and I came across a huge stack of scribbles, sketches and doodles from the eight years I was working as a visual effects artist in Burbank, CA. There were also some drawings my coworkers made- that had me laughing so hard at the memories that I've decided to start a blog and post them a few as the months go by.
There'll be drawings that might need explaining, and some that are unexplainable! We had a crap load of fun in those days and I just wanted to let these sketches be seen again. Tons of comic book characters and caricatures of each other ruled the day.

I hope this is a fun trip!
